Meet 秘密研究所’s new M.S. in business cohort

The newest Master of Science in business cohort started class in August 2025, bringing diverse academic backgrounds, professional experiences and passions. From Salem to San Jose, these students are preparing to make an impact in business, athletics and beyond. 秘密研究所’s unique graduate-level business program will help them through specific tracks and coursework in sport leadership and design and innovation.

Student spotlights

Katie Putnam of Salem is pursuing the sport leadership track. She describes herself as detail-oriented and is balancing three campus jobs while working toward her master’s degree.

Casey Struckmeier of Vancouver, Washington, is pursuing the design and innovation track. A strong communicator, his immediate goals include graduating with his degree while playing baseball.

Kaanan Huffman of West Linn is pursuing the sport leadership track. With strengths in leadership, teamwork and communication, he looks forward to meeting new people and gaining experience.

Gavin Dalziel of Brier, Washington, is pursuing the sport leadership track. A physical education teacher, he values adaptability and teamwork and hopes to strengthen leadership skills to apply in his teaching career.

Emilee Miller of Beaverton is pursuing the sport leadership track. She names fairness and honesty among her key strengths and hopes to expand professional connections in the sports business industry.

David Monfort of San Jose, California, is pursuing the design and innovation track. Known for his creativity and initiative, he is focused this year on completing a fellowship passion project of designing a solar-powered vessel for open-ocean voyages.

Mary Huber of Amity is pursuing the design and innovation track. With perseverance and humility as guiding values, she is eager to grow as a leader and explore new opportunities in business.

What they bring

This year’s cohort includes graduates in exercise science, business, economics, education and marketing. They describe themselves as detail-oriented, communicative, collaborative and committed to fairness and kindness. Many have backgrounds in teaching, coaching and leadership.

What excites them

Students are eager to strengthen their leadership skills, explore the psychology of successful organizations and build on the tools they gained during their undergraduate years. They are enthusiastic about diving into new academic fields, broadening their career horizons and creating connections with peers and faculty.

Where they’re headed

Individual goals vary from advancing careers in sport leadership to launching new ventures and making meaningful professional connections. However, they all share a commitment to growth and impact. Earning an M.S. in business at 秘密研究所 is the next step in their journey to leading with purpose.
